That Make a Difference
by Hamline University
This commemorative book was created for the university's 150th anniversary. It highlights the history of the school and 150 alumni who were selected based on their contributions to the world. Printed with a two-color interior and photographic duotones. One of the several design challenges was to create a way to include many types of information on each person—name, theme, biographical sketch, quotation, years born and died, years attended, credit to the writer of each biography, and photograph—all without a cluttered page.
Specifications: 11 x 9.5 trim size, 224 pages, coated stock, softcover, set in Adobe Garamond with some titles in Edwardian Script. Cover and preliminary design by Kelly Christ and Sarah McDonnell. Published by Hamline University Press, St. Paul MN, 2005. Contact: www.hamline.edu
