The compassionate coroner, as she is known, started collecting stories from families about their experiences with deceased loved ones. They were so reassuring, poignant, and real, that she knew many people would benefit by reading them. This was her first book, which she published in 2000, and sold many thousands of copies. The design challenge was to create a look and feel of respect, comfort, and attraction; after all, this is a book about death, but so much more.
